Cube Management’s StreetVelodrome will return to one of Ireland’s biggest county shows this summer, located just outside Dublin, as part of the pop-up cycling track’s 2019 multi-tour of the country.
Flavours of Fingal is a two-day event taking place on Saturday June 29th and Sunday 30th within the historic walled garden of Newbridge House and Farm, Donabate, in North County Dublin. It attracts over 80,000 people annually.
The festival-style event combines the sights and sounds of an agricultural show and is a veritable smorgasbord of entertainment for kids and adults alike. From sheepdog trials and a petting zoo to a day-long music stage surrounded by artisan food stands; to vintage vehicle displays and an interactive living history zone, the event is aimed at showcasing Fingal’s rich tapestry.
It also has a diverse programme of entertainment, including two of the StreetVelodrome team’s favourites from last year, The Cavalry of Heroes Medieval Jousting Horse Stunt Show, and a geese display!
‘Flavours’ is particularly celebrated across Ireland for its sustainability ethos. Admission to the event is completely free of charge for visitors with the lowest carbon footprint. Organisers reward patrons who arrive on foot, use public transport or the free shuttle bus service provided by allowing entry completely free into the show. For those who opt to drive there is a car parking fee.
And this is where StreetVelodrome fits in.
As well as providing an exciting slice of cycling theatre in the Flavours Village area, StreetVelodrome’s presence serves to highlight Fingal County’s commitment to promoting sustainable transport. It has proved to be a hugely popular addition to the show, with people of all ages tackling StreetVelodrome’s dramatic banked corners.
“We’re excited to be returning to Flavours of Fingal again this year,” said Judith Rowan, StreetVelodrome’s Business Development Director, based in Ireland. “The event is one of Dublin’s biggest outdoor family festivals, with a lovely atmosphere. The team really enjoyed it last year.”
