Glorious sunshine for the first Madhare event of the year; the Veloforte Mad March Hare
The Mad March Hare, now in its 14th year, returned to a Longbridge on Sunday 20th March 2022 with close to 650 participants, and spectacular weather.
This popular early season sportive was this year known as the Veloforte Mad March Hare, after Madhare’s 2022 title sponsor, Veloforte, who provided a wide range of their award-winning natural sports nutrition products at the event HQ start and finish and at the feed station, which also had food and drink supplied by Booker and Brunchbite.
The 110km route, with chip timing supplied by HS Sports, medical support provided by Trans Med Training and mechanical support provided by Gorilla Coffee Café workshop, was a challenging but picturesque ride that started from Longbridge, Birmingham, before meandering out through country lanes, including Clent, through the Wyre Forest, and back to the HQ location, via the Lickey Hills. Post-ride food and drink was provided by Austin Sports and Social Club. Riders also enjoyed a complementary coffee supplied by Whinny’s in their amazing converted horse box.
Photographers from AWOL Adventure were present at both the HQ start and finish as well as on route at Arley to capture memorable action shots.
Sarah Gittings, Madhare’s Event Manager, said: ‘The Veloforte Mad March Hare 2022 was a great success. We’d like to thank everyone for supporting the event; participants and staff and a special thank you goes out to our event partners and sponsors.”
“There was a great atmosphere all day along every section of the route, and we couldn’t have asked for better weather!”, Bruno, a regular Madhare supporter, said, “Beautiful weather, a fantastic route and a great way to start the cycling season!”
