STREET VELODROME IRELAND 2021
Street Velodrome Dublin Tour 2021
This is the 5th year Street Velodrome has conducted a tour in Ireland. It was first introduced in Northern Ireland as part of Giro d’Italia Grand Fondo celebrations in 2015 and has been a popular summer feature across the Island of Ireland each year since (2020 plans were cancelled due to Covid-19). This year, the Tour took place in Southern Ireland, including Spawell car park in South Dublin, St Catherine’s Park in Fingal and Flemington Community Centre in Balbriggan.
A range of access events took place in conjunction with National Bike Week (Dublin and Fingal), as well as during the European Week of Sport’s ‘Be Active’ day (Balbriggan).
Each event was organised with the aim to offer enthusiastic cyclists, riders both experienced and new to the sport, to get on the track and have a go at experiencing the thrill of Olympic-style cycle track racing. Included within each itinerary was our Cycling Futures programme, a ground-breaking outreach programme with the aim of creating greater access to cycling within existing National Curriculum frameworks and delivering an educational message for local primary schools.
THREE VENUES. TWO WEEKS.
Locations in Ireland: Dublin, Fingal, Balbriggan.
“The event went really well. We’re very happy.
The team from Cube were excellent on the day and really kept the energy up, so that was brilliant!“
