Cube Management’s F1 event team were honoured to be involved in the 1000th Grand Prix race last week in China.
Working for both Formula One Management and the official merchandise partner Puma, Cube was responsible for delivering a number of event structure solutions as well as providing wide ranging on-event support. We provided bespoke branded kiosks for the official programme sales as well as pop up F1Stores (the official track side merchandise event retail) situated around the circuit. Within the main F1 Fanzone we provided two large (30m and 20m) F1 Stores for the official team merchandiser with bespoke F1 team branding for Ferrari, AMG Mercedes and RedBull.
As part of F1’s celebration of its rich heritage Cube, working with Classic Team Lotus, were appointed to help deliver an exciting on track activation and static car display within the main F1 Fanzone for the 1968 Type 49C Lotus as driven by the legendary F1 champion Graham Hill. The static car display involved a bespoke branded event structure with full height backdrop and external cladding along with temporary garage flooring, spotlights and branded crowd barriers. On track, Cube assisted Classic Team Lotus mechanics in bringing the activation to life with demonstration track runs for the car driven by 1996 F1 World Champion Damon Hill.
Within the Paddock, Cube delivered an engaging historic F1 car display with full height branded cladding and red carpet. Thanks to the Cube team’s professionalism and expertise they were also called upon to manage one of the World’s most extensive private collection of F1 memorabilia on display along the F1 Paddock and the drivers cool down room, the area the top three drivers refresh themselves just prior to the podium ceremony.
Carl Thompson, Cube Management’s Event Solutions Director commented “This project was challenging. Working in China always presents its own set of challenges, particularly in terms of handling the local regulatory and compliance requirements as well as coordinating and managing local suppliers. Added to this much of the scope of work was decided during event week or even on-event, so our team had to adapt and respond quickly in order to deliver.
The end results were received very well and our work, particularly that undertaken within the F1 paddock, gained a lot of attention from the global media as well as the teams and visitors to the paddock over the weekend. It was an absolute privilege to be part of such a milestone event.”
